CBDCE Announces 2023 Board of Directors

(Schaumburg, IL – January 2023) – Two new members began serving in 2023 on the Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education (CBDCE) Board of Directors. The CBDCE Board of Directors elected Adeola Akindana, DNP, CRNP, CDCES®, and Michael See, MS, CEP, CDCES®, CHWC.

Adeola Akindana

Adeola Akindana holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree and specializes as a Diabetes Nurse Practitioner and a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist® (CDCES®). Since 2005, she has dedicated her nursing career to caring for people living with diabetes. She has worked in various capacities, including diabetes research, inpatient and outpatient care, and capacity building in developing countries. Her interest is in increasing cultural competency and health literacy in optimizing patients’ experiences and educating other professionals on developing cultural humility around providing patient-centered care. She continues to be a voice for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in her profession and patient care access. She has served on the board of the Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists. She’s a prolific speaker and presenter to professional and layman audiences nationally and abroad. In addition, she has been a subject matter expert for various organizations such as Circle of Rights, Healthy Interactions, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. She earned her CDCES credential in 2007.

Michael See

Michael See is a Clinical Exercise Physiologist and Health Coach with over twenty years of exercise science background working in primary and secondary prevention of cardiometabolic conditions. He has worked as a CDCES at the Joslin Diabetes Center and Southcoast Health, providing patient-centered care and participating in research. Currently, he provides health and wellness services and programs to 100,000+ employees at Verizon. He has a passion for embedding behavioral science into the services he provides. Michael is involved with several state and national organizations and holds a master’s degree in Clinical Exercise Science and a bachelor’s in science in Athletic Training/Sports Medicine. He enjoys sports and physical movement and earned his CDCES credential in 2009.

Adeola Akindana and Michael See are serving four-year terms to begin on January 1, 2023. With their election, they join nine Directors currently serving on the CBDCE’s board:
