CDCES Certification
Formerly known as Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE)
A Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) is a health professional who possesses comprehensive knowledge of and experience in diabetes prevention, prediabetes, and diabetes management. The CDCES educates, supports, and advocates for people affected by diabetes, addressing the stages of diabetes throughout the lifespan.

BC-ADM Certification
The professional holding the Board Certified-Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM®) certification skillfully manages complex patient needs and assists people at risk for and with diabetes and other cardiometabolic conditions with therapeutic problem-solving. Within their discipline's scope of practice and licensure, health professionals who hold the BC-ADM® certification may adjust (and in some cases, prescribe) medications, treat, and monitor acute and chronic complications and other comorbidities, counsel people living with diabetes on lifestyle modifications, address psychosocial issues, and participate in research and mentoring.

Current CDCES - Do You Need to Access the CBDCE Portal?
If you haven't logged into your CBDCE portal since 2024, you'll need to reset your password to access your account on the CBDCE portal. If you are unable to login with your email address, it could be that we have a different email address on file with your CDCES. In this case, contact info@cbdce.org for login assistance. Please do not create a new record as the system will not be able to connect you to your current CDCES certification.

CDCES Scholarships
The CDCES credential is held by registered nurses, advanced practice nurses, registered dietitian nutritionists, pharmacists, physicians, PAs, and other health professionals on the diabetes care and education team.

CDCES Certification Renewal
The 2026 CDCES Renewal by CE online application will open July 15, 2026. Once open, you will place your application online through your account on the CBDCE portal.
